Welcome to Sexy Sunday Nights

You got the aircon on? It is about to get hot!

Welcome to Sexy Sunday Nights!

Sexy Sunday Nights (SSN) is a safe space for me to share knowledge and personal anecdotes about dating, sex, toys, and sex workers as a person with a disability. Here, you can learn a lot about the challenges and barriers those living with disability face in this realm. You will have a laugh, mostly with me, but sometimes even at me (that one time my wheelchair stole a vibrator) but my intention is that you can take something away from this, as well as participate in constructive discussion about these topics.

I have never been one to shy away from taboo topics, so despite any potential judgement, I do not plan on holding back. I believe the topic of sex is one that should be openly and comfortably spoken about. It is a basic human right and should be recognised as such, no matter who you are. According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, its importance sits at the same level as air, food and drink.

I felt it was important for me to share this knowledge because not only does the world need to hear more diverse stories and experiences in these spaces, but also because there are thousands, even millions of people who are facing similar challenges and barriers too. Growing up, especially during puberty and early adulthood, I wish I saw diverse stories from people like me reflected on television, in magazines as well as online social platforms, but that was not the case. However, there’s always room for change and I want people to feel seen and heard in this space.

So why ‘Sexy Sunday Nights’ you might ask?

I chose Sexy Sunday Nights as a name mostly because it seemed quite practical. People tend to have plans on Fridays and Saturdays, and are typically out of the house or entertaining; Sundays are more about relaxing, winding down and preparing for the week ahead. So what better to do than wind down or spice up your evening and read about sex and sexuality from a new perspective.

I welcome you to reach out and share your stories with me in this judgement-free space, if you feel comfortable. My hope is to build a safe, trusting community where we can discuss these taboo topics without any worries.

So without further ado, let’s strap in! (Pun intended)
